HISHAM ISSA
Senior Computer Science Student // Love for Building & Innovation // Passionate About Creativity and Efficiency
Hello!
Hi, I’m Hisham — a senior Computer Science (Co-op) student with a Business Minor at the University of Guelph, entering my final year of study. I specialize in full-stack development, insurance technology, and product innovation, with a strong foundation in both technical problem-solving and business acumen.
I’ve had the opportunity to work as a Web Development & Underwriting Intern at Sovereign Insurance, where I designed and launched a D&O premium rater now live on the company’s website and used daily by underwriters, brokers, and clients. Currently, I’m leading the development of a similar tool for Equipment Breakdown (EB) policies, combining my coding expertise with risk analysis and underwriting workflows to enhance efficiency and accessibility across the insurance process.
Alongside my industry experience, I’ve served as a Teaching Assistant for introductory programming at Guelph, taught concepts ranging from databases and networks to security and algorithm design, and supported IT operations as an Information Technology Analyst. On the side, I’ve built a range of personal and academic projects — from browser-based games like Cheese Clicker and Who Said It? Taylor Swift or AI? to algorithm-driven applications and object-oriented systems — each reflecting my passion for creating tools that improve user experience and push my technical skills further.
Outside of tech, I’m passionate about basketball, family, and continuous learning — always eager to take on challenges that help me grow both personally and professionally.
